Step 1 Place the cut out sole pattern on the pattern paper you’re using for your upper pattern and trace.
Step 2 Transfer pinky toe marking and side of big toe marking (black X’s) from sole pattern onto your upper pattern. Do not cut out yet.
Step 3 Place on traced outline another mark (green dots), directly horizontal to transferred "X's".
Step 4 Place mark on bottom of heel. (green dot)
Step 5 Measure out from green dots 5/8” and mark. (red dots)
Step 6 Continue measuring and marking at 5/8” around top (toes) of outline between red dots seen in step 5. Note: The more curve, the more dots.
Step 7 Starting at lowest red dots at sides (horizontal to green dots at sides), draw vertical lines perpendicular to each other until you at least pass the red dot at bottom.
Step 8 Draw horizontal line at red dot below heel to meet vertical lines. Note: There should be a perfect 90 degree angle where the vertical lines meet the bottom horizontal line.
Step 9 Connect red dots along top (toe) in a smooth and rounded fashion.
Step 10 Cut out pattern.
Step 11 Fold cut out pattern in thirds horizontally; open up. (dotted lines)
Step 12 Fold pattern in half vertically; open up. (dotted lines)
Step 13 Mark at cross point between vertical fold and top third horizontal fold. (purple dot)
Step 14 Measure out on both sides from purple dot horizontally and mark with blue dots using one of the following measurements: Infant's: ½” Child’s: 5/8” Adult's: ¾”
Step 15 Now fold horizontally in quarters. (This step replaces horizontal folding done in step 11). (horizontal dotted lines)
Step 16 Mark at this cross point on vertical fold and first quarter fold from bottom. (purple dot)
Step 17 Measure out horizontally on both sides of bottom purple dot the same distance measured out on top purple dot and mark: Infant’s: ½” Child’s: 5/8” Adult’s: ¾” (green dots)
Step 18 Draw vertical line from top purple dot down to bottom (heel) of pattern. (center red line).
Step 19 Draw horizontal line connecting blue dots. (top red line)
Step 20 Draw two vertical lines connecting blue dots down to green dots. (red lines)
Step 21 Draw horizontal line connecting green dots. (bottom horizontal line)
Step 22 Draw half oval shape starting and ending at blue dots. (blue line)
