Cut a piece of fabric 3/4"W X 12"L The size pattern will vary depending on the look you are wanting to achieve. This is to teach you the technique so you can later adjust pattern to fit your needs.
Serge both long sides with a rolled hem. Serge at an angle at the ends.
Wrap tightly around a thin dowel or pencil. Hold with tape or a clothespin.
Bake in the oven on 200 degrees for a half an hour. Remove from dowel or pencil.
You can brush some fabric glue on the ends to help keep serger thread from unraveling.
You can use this method for ribbon. Just wrap around dowel or pencil and bake in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes. Treat the ends of ribbon with fray check or clear nail polish to help keep from fraying.
