Cut two pieces out of your terry cloth fabric:
One 7 1/2" x 6 1/2", and one 3 1/2" x 6 1/2".

Place small fabric piece on top of larger fabric piece right sides together as explained below:

Pin starting from half way down on left side to bottom 1/2" from edge.

Measure from top left corner at a 45 degree angle 3/4" towards center.

Stitch at a 45 degree angle where you pinned at corner.
Stitch at an 1/2" seam allowance where you pinned at side.

![]()
Pin as shown

Sew 1/2" seam as shown.

Finish edges using either a zig-zag stitch, or serge so they don't fray.
Trim corner.

Serge or zig zag thumb opening so fabric does not fray. Turn thumb opening under about a 1/4" and sew through thumb opening on the right side of fabric as shown.
![]()
Serge or zig-zag stitch arm opening and finger
opening the same as
thumb opening so the fabric does not fray.

Turn finger and arm openings under about an 1/4" and sew through
openings on
right side of fabric. Just like with thumb opening.

At this point you should have a pretty cool fingerless bathing glove.

If you are wanting to apply the wrist ruffle to your bath glove click on the link directly below. The wrist ruffle is an optional step. The glove stays on for the most part without it, but the wrist ruffle does make the glove feel more snug and secure, not to mention...pretty.

Measure, mark and cut out a piece of fabric 18" X 3".

Fold in half lengthwise and pin.

Sew 3/8" from edge.
Double stitch by sewing right next to first row of stitching.

![]()
Turn right side out.

Iron flat.

![]()
Wrap 1/6" elastic around wrist to measure.

Add 1 1/2" to that measurement and cut.
Cut 2nd piece of elastic this same measurement.
![]()
Place elastic on one end of fabric 3/8" from side edge. Pin.

Pin to the other end 3/8" from side edge also.

![]()
Grab ends with one hand.

Match up center of elastic to center of fabric band by pulling on elastic to meet fabric.

Pin center elastic to center of fabric band.
![]()
Tack elastic to fabric band about 5/8" from one end.

![]()
Sew a straight stitch down the middle of the elastic while pulling taut on where the fabric and elastic are pinned together at their centers.
Tip: If you have trouble getting the sewing going, give a good tug on the tacking threads behind presser foot.

Note: If you have extra fabric left over after sewing on taut elastic, simply snip it off.

Tack when you reach 1/2" from bottom of fabric or the end of the elastic.

View of wrong side.

Pin, tack and sew the 2nd elastic on the other side 3/8" from edge just like first. Make sure to pull both elastics taut while sewing.

Tack when you reach the bottom.
Right side of wrist ruffle.

![]()
Fold over on one end and snip corners.

Try glove on and wrap ruffle around glove to figure the width you want. Pin.

![]()
Remove and sew wrist ruffle closed.

![]()
Place band on glove again. Place pin through arm opening where the wrist ruffle should go.
![]()
Sew through arm opening on wrong side of fabric and over a side seam. Connect wrist ruffle to glove in one straight stitch the length of the ruffle.
![]()
Cut terry cloth fabric piece 5 1/2" X 6 1/2"
Tip: If you have a book about that size I
recommend just tracing around that as a pattern.
The measurements do not have to be exact
and it makes it a bit easier.
Not to mention it will be a perfect
90 rectangle.

Apply Seam Binding to
Washcloth
For the first side cut seam binding just a little bit longer than the fabric side.
Open up seam binding.

Some seam binding like Wrights has a shorter side and longer side. See photo below.

Place seam binding on top of the fabric, right sides together. Pin in crease of fold closest to edge.

Note: The shorter side goes on the right side of fabric and the longer side goes over the seam to the wrong side of the fabric. This is because when doing the last step of sewing on the seam binding, you are sewing on the right side of fabric in the well (ditch). It's longer on the wrong side because the stitches need to catch the seam binding there. You will see this in the steps to come.
![]()
Sew in the folded crease nearest edge.
You’ll want to match both your threads to match the seam binding.

Cut any extra seam binding off when you reach the end of the fabric side.
Note: Be careful when doing the very last side
of the towel. You
will need to leave some
extra room on the seam binding to fold under
and hide the raw
edge. It is explained in steps to come.
![]()
Fold seam binding over seam and onto wrong side of fabric. Pin in well (aka ditch).
Tip: You might need to trim the fabric seam a
bit if it sticks up beyond the seam binding.
Otherwise it will be
hard to fold over and will not lay smooth and flat.

When you start a new side, fold under end of seam binding, and clip corners so they do not stick out before pinning and sewing.

Pin in crease closest to edge as before.
![]()
Sew in first crease as before.
Wrap over edge, pin and sew in well (ditch) on right side.

Finish

A good place I find to attach the washcloth to the glove is between the index and
middle finger.
Of course you can play around with it and
find the position you feel most comfortable with.
Once you do; pin right sides together.

Tack in place
Using a hand needle, tack with matching thread securely in place.
